What I store, and why.
This page explains which personal data I process when you visit my website, write to me or work with me. First the short version, then the details.
In short: I only process the data I need for my website, your inquiry and our work together. I don’t sell personal data. Analytics and advertising services only run if you consent in the cookie banner.
1. Who is responsible
The controller responsible for processing your personal data is me:
Gian-Andri Neugel
THE DIGITAL STYLIST
Schäppi-Naefstrasse 1
8942 Oberrieden, Switzerland
giani@thedigitalstylist.ch
This policy is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies to people in the EU, I comply with it as well. If you have questions about data protection, write to me at the address above.
2. What data I process
Depending on how you get in touch with me, this includes:
When you visit the website: technical information such as IP address, date and time, pages visited, browser, device and the page you came from.
When you send an inquiry or book a call: what you enter in the form, during booking or in your email, for example name, company, email address, website and details about your offer, your advertising and your goal.
When we work together: contact and billing details, quotes, contracts and the documents you give me for the project. This can include read access to your ad accounts or analytics.
With your consent: information about how you use the website and whether you arrived via an ad (see sections 7 and 8).
3. What I use the data for
I use your data for these purposes:
To provide the website and operate it securely.
To answer your inquiry, schedule a call with you and send you a quote.
To carry out and invoice projects.
To understand how the website is used and which advertising leads to inquiries. Only with your consent.
To meet legal obligations, for example in accounting.
Where the GDPR applies, I rely on these legal bases: contract and pre-contractual measures (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)), legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c)) and my legitimate interest in a secure and functioning website (Art. 6(1)(f)).
4. Website and hosting
The website runs on Framer. The provider is Framer B.V., Rozengracht 207B, 1016 LZ Amsterdam, Netherlands. Framer processes the data on my behalf. Framer also uses servers in the US and relies on the Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses for this.
Framer’s built-in visitor analytics works without cookies and only shows me anonymous numbers.
5. Inquiry form and email
When you submit the form, Framer forwards your information to me by email. If you arrive via an ad or a link with campaign parameters, the form sends this information along, for example the campaign name and the Google Ads click ID. That way, I can see which advertising leads to inquiries.
For email, I use Google Workspace. The provider is Google Cloud EMEA Limited, 70 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland. Google may also process data in the US.
I only use your information for your inquiry and any work we do together.
6. Booking with Cal.com
For the free intro call, I use Cal.com. The provider is Cal.com, Inc., 2261 Market Street #4382, San Francisco, CA 94114, USA. Cal.com processes the data on my behalf.
When you book a call, Cal.com receives your name, your email address, your answers in the booking form and the time you chose. If you cancel or reschedule, the reason is added if you provide one. The appointment is entered in my Google Calendar, and the call takes place via Google Meet.
The booking calendar on the “Book” page is loaded directly from Cal.com. In the process, Cal.com also receives technical information such as your IP address. According to Cal.com, the service does not use third-party cookies.
Cal.com processes the data in the US. For data from the EU, Cal.com is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. For data from Switzerland, Cal.com relies on the 2021 EU standard contractual clauses with the adjustments for Switzerland. More on this in the Cal.com privacy policy.
7. Cookies and consent
Some cookies and similar technologies are necessary for the website to work, for example to save your cookie choice. I only set analytics and advertising cookies if you consent in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page or delete cookies in your browser.
8. Google Analytics and Google Ads
With your consent, I use these services from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland:
Google tag: loads Google Analytics and Google Ads only after you consent.
Google Analytics: shows me how the website is used.
Google Ads: measures whether an ad led to an inquiry.
In the process, Google receives, among other things, your IP address, information about your device and browser, the pages visited and an identifier in a cookie. Google may also process the data in the US. More on this in the Google privacy policy.
9. Fonts
For one font on this website, your browser loads data from Google servers (Google Fonts). In the process, Google receives your IP address. The provider is Google Ireland Limited, Dublin. Google may also process the data in the US.
10. Links to other websites
For example, I link to LinkedIn and to Google Drive, where my CV template is stored. I don’t embed plugins from these services. Only when you click a link does the other provider receive data from you. Their privacy policy then applies.
11. AI tools in projects
For copy, images, analysis and automation, I use AI tools, including from providers in the US. I only enter personal data from your project there if it’s necessary for the work. Wherever possible, I work with anonymized information.
12. Who I share data with
I only share personal data as far as necessary for the purposes above: with the service providers in the list below, with my bank for payments, if necessary with an accounting firm for bookkeeping, and with authorities if I’m legally required to.
Framer B.V. (Netherlands, US): website, hosting and form.
Cal.com, Inc. (US): booking.
Google Cloud EMEA Limited (Ireland, US): email, calendar and video calls.
Google Ireland Limited (Ireland, US): Google tag, Analytics, Ads and fonts.
Providers of AI tools (US): project work.
According to the Swiss Federal Council, the Netherlands and Ireland provide adequate data protection. For the US, this applies to companies certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for example Google LLC. For other providers in the US, I make sure they rely on standard contractual clauses or another recognized safeguard.
13. How long I keep data
I only keep data as long as I need it or am required to keep it:
Inquiries and bookings without a project: at most 12 months after the last contact.
Contracts, invoices and receipts: 10 years, as required by the Swiss Code of Obligations.
Data in Google Analytics: at most 14 months.
14. Data security
I protect your data with appropriate technical and organizational measures, for example encrypted connections, two-factor authentication on my accounts and access limited to me.
15. Your rights
You can at any time:
Request information about which data I process about you.
Have incorrect data corrected.
Request that I delete your data or stop processing it, unless I’m required to keep it.
Receive your data in a common electronic format.
Withdraw your consent. This applies to the future.
To do so, write to me at giani@thedigitalstylist.ch.
If you believe I’m not processing your data correctly, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC). If you live in the EU, you can also contact the data protection authority in your country.
16. Changes
I update this policy when my website or my services change. The version published here applies. This English version is a translation; in case of differences, the German version prevails.
